involve.me might be a no-code tool, but that doesn't mean that you can't add any code to your funnels in order to enhance their functionality.
With the help of GTM (Google Tag Manager) you can easily add your own custom scripts to any of your funnels.
In this article, we will walk you through the steps of installing a custom script in a funnel, via the use of GTM. For this example we will use a script from Weglot so we can translate our funnel to another language of our choice.
Step 1: Create a Container
While logged into your GTM account, start by creating a container.
Then simply enter your container's name, and pick the target platform.
For our example we'll pick the "Web" option, this will depend on one's needs and use case however, so for you it might be different.
Step 2: Create the Tag
Once your container is set up, you will want to create a tag inside the container you just created. This tag is where you will add your script, so make sure you have your script ready.
Pick the "Tags" option on your left side, and click "New" in order to create a new tag.
Under "Tag Configuration" you will need to pick your tag type, in our case it will be "Custom HTML". Then under "Triggering" you'll need to pick a trigger, here we went with one of our own GTM triggers "involve.me_ProjectLoaded".
You can read more about the triggers we offer and how to add them to GTM in our dedicated article here.
Lastly, make sure to hit the "Save" button, and submit the changes by clicking "Submit". This way, the changes that you made to the tag will be published.
Once you've done this, you will be all set on GTM's end.
Step 3: Add the Container ID to Your Funnel
The last step will be to add your GTM container ID to the funnel where you want the script to run. To do this, simply head over to your funnel's "Configure" page and scroll down to the "Tracking" section - there you will have the Google Tag Manager field for you to enter the ID.
You might also want to enable the "Google consent mode" option, otherwise the events will not leave the data layer in order to make it into Google.
Last but not least, make sure to click on "Update settings" before leaving the "Configure" page, so that the changes are applied.
Testing Your Funnel
Once you have everything set up, make sure to test your funnel in order to ensure that the GTM tag is found, and that the script is working as intended.
