The test mode on the calculator's formula builder is a powerful feature that allows you to test your formulas in different scenarios.
This feature lets you to pick answers and hidden fields from your funnel, or even custom values so you can test the result of the calculation. This allows you to check if the formula is working as intended, or if some fine-tuning is required.
How to Enter Test Mode
Once you have opened the Formula Builder, you will see the Build/Test menu on the left top side of the builder.
The Build mode, like it indicates, is the mode that you use to build your calculator formula and it is selected by default. While Test mode is where you can test out your formula with demo values, to see if it is working the way you envisioned it to.
Clicking "Test" will bring up a another window at the bottom, which will have a formula with the same format as the one you just built but with empty values, and the result will be set to 0 (zero).
How to Use the Formula Builder Test Mode
While in test mode, you'll notice that now on your left side the questions will have dropdowns from where you can pick your answers, while free text elements will have a field for you to enter text or a value, and hidden fields will have a field where you can enter a value.
The answers/values are what will be used when testing the formula that you have, so if you want to check whether a certain combination of answers outputs a specific result or not, this is the best way to do it.
As you pick your answers, you'll notice that the empty values in the formula at the bottom will start to be filled up.
The result will also change as you do this, and once you have selected all of the answers for the formula, you'll be able to see what the result would be with that combination you picked.
ℹ️ If the answers you're picking from the dropdowns have a value of 0 in the test formula, then this is likely because you forgot to assign values to them.
Make sure to enable the "Individual Score & Calculation" option in your questions so you can assign values to the answers. Click here for more information.
Another thing you can also do, is use your own custom values in the test formula instead, if you don't want to use the predefined ones from the answers. To do this, just click on the gear icon and then you'll be able to edit the value of that answer and test with the custom value instead.
In this case the original value was 150, but we changed it to 200 which is the value that the test formula is now using.
