Overview
involve.me can send tracking events to your existing analytics platforms every time a participant interacts with your funnel. This lets you measure conversions, build retargeting audiences, and analyze funnel performance — all inside the tools you already use.
You set up tracking in your funnel's Settings page, under the "Tracking & Scripts" section. Just paste the relevant ID, click "Update Settings", and events start flowing automatically.
Supported Tracking Platforms
Platform | Available on | ID format | Full guide |
Google Analytics (GA4) | ✅ All plans (Free: page views only) | G-XXXXXXXX
Meta Pixel | ✅ All plans (Free: page views only) | Numeric Pixel ID
Google Tag Manager | ✅ Grow, Scale | GTM-XXXXXXX
LinkedIn Insight Tag | ✅ Grow, Scale | Partner ID
TikTok Pixel | ✅ Grow, Scale | Pixel ID |
ℹ️ On the Free plan, Google Analytics and Meta Pixel can be added but only track page views — custom events (like QuestionAnswer or ProjectCompleted) require a paid plan. GTM, LinkedIn, and TikTok are not available on Free.
How to Add Tracking to Your Funnel
Step 1. Open your funnel and go to the "Settings" page.
Step 2. Scroll down to the "Tracking & Scripts" section.
Step 3. Paste your tracking ID in the correct field (see the table above for the expected format).
Step 4. Click "Update Settings" to save.
That's it — events will start being sent automatically the next time someone interacts with your funnel.
What Events Are Tracked
involve.me sends the same set of custom events to all supported platforms. The events fire automatically — no additional configuration is needed beyond adding your tracking ID.
Event | When it fires | Key data included |
ProjectLoaded | Funnel page loads in the browser | Project name |
QuestionProgress | Participant interacts with an input element for the first time | Project name, question text, question ID |
QuestionAnswer | Participant moves to the next page (answer is submitted) | Answer value, score, correct/incorrect, project name, question text |
ContactFormFilled | Participant submits a contact form | Which fields were filled (not the actual data), page number, project name |
ProjectCompleted | Participant reaches the final page | Outcome name, final score, calculator result, is embed |
PaymentAttempted | Participant attempts a payment | Payment status, currency, value, project name |
SocialMediaShare | Participant clicks a social share button | Share platform, project name |
ExternalClickURL | Participant clicks an external link or CTA button | Destination URL, service, project name |
⚠️ Privacy note: For compliance, only pre-defined answers (dropdowns, multiple choice) are sent to tracking platforms. Personal data fields and free text inputs are not sent.
Event Behavior Details
QuestionProgress fires when a participant interacts with an input element for the first time (except non-mandatory fields). For Slider elements, it fires when the user moves the slider or progresses to the next page without moving it.
QuestionAnswer fires when the participant moves to the next page. Exceptions: Free Text Input elements only send QuestionProgress (not QuestionAnswer). Contact Form elements send ContactFormFilled instead. Checkbox inputs added alongside a Contact Form trigger both QuestionProgress and QuestionAnswer.
ContactFormFilled reports which fields were completed, but not the actual data entered — this protects participant privacy.
Tracking Events via the Website Where Your Funnel Is Embedded
If your funnel is embedded on your website and that website already has tracking installed (GA, GTM, or Meta Pixel), you can tell involve.me to pass events to the parent website instead of tracking them separately.
How to enable it:
Step 1. Go to your funnel's Settings → Tracking & Scripts section.
Step 2. Enable "Send tracking events over the website where the funnel is embedded".
Step 3. Click "Update Settings".
When this is enabled, events are recorded under your website's URL (not the funnel's URL). This is useful for keeping all your analytics data in one property.
⚠️ Do not add the same tracking ID to both the funnel settings and your website when this option is enabled — it will create duplicate events.
This feature requires the Grow plan or higher.
Additional Tracking Settings
Consent banner | Enable this to show a consent banner to your participants. It supports Google Consent Mode and also works with Meta Pixel, TikTok Pixel, and LinkedIn Insight Tag, so all your tracking pixels respect the user's consent choice without breaking each other. |
Automatically send custom events based on interactions | Sends events automatically as participants interact with your funnel. This is enabled by default. |
Discourage search engine indexing | Adds a no-index tag to prevent search engines from indexing your funnel. Requires Grow plan or higher. |
Troubleshooting
Events not showing up in your analytics platform?
Check your plan | On the Free plan, GA and Meta Pixel only track page views — custom events require a paid plan (Start+). GTM, LinkedIn, and TikTok require Grow+. Start a free 14-day trial to test everything. |
Verify the ID format | Google Analytics needs the full G-XXXXXXXX tag. Meta Pixel needs only the numbers (no "ID" prefix). GTM needs GTM-XXXXXXX. |
Check for duplicates | If your funnel is embedded and both the funnel and the parent website have the same tracking code, events will be counted twice. |
Use real-time reports | In GA4, go to Reports → Realtime to see events as they fire. In Meta, use the Events Manager → Test Events tab. You can also use the Meta Pixel Helper Chrome extension or the Google Tag Assistant. |
Empty question text | If you leave a question text field empty, events won't have a subtitle — making them harder to identify in your analytics dashboard. |
"Track via parent" is on but events are missing | Make sure the parent website has a GA, GTM, or Meta Pixel script installed. The funnel passes events to the parent — if the parent has no tracking, events are lost. |
