Embedding the content that you create with involve.me can be a great way to enhance your own website or blog. However, sometimes things can go wrong and the embed may not work as intended. In this article, we will go over some common issues with embedding and how to troubleshoot them.

Troubleshooting Tips

Whenever you experience any issues an embed, we recommend that you start by trying out these general troubleshooting steps first to see if they solve the issue.

  • Publish the website in order to determine if the embed is working or not. Sometimes the preview mode won't allow the embed to work correctly. Read more here.

  • Check out this article for instructions on how to embed your funnel on different website builders. If your website builder is not listed, then look up their documentation on how to embed elements onto your website. Using the correct method will help minimize embed issues.

  • Use our plug-in when available. Doing this can also help solve embed issues.

    • At the moment we offer a WordPress plugin, and we're looking into potentially adding more to the library so we can cover mode website builders in the future.

If the above steps do not help with your embed problem, then keep reading to see if your specific issue has been covered in this article.

Embed is Cut

It can be that the box/container the embed is in has a limitation on the dimensions and/or does not change dynamically.

Every website builder will be different in this aspect, but most of them should allow you to set up your desired height and width for the embed. So the solution here will be to simply make the container bigger so that the embed is not being cut.

If the container does not change dynamically, then perhaps you can try disabling the "Dynamic height resize" option when setting up your embed in involve.me, and set a specific height for the funnel that matches that of the container. This way you won't need to worry about the funnel being cut whenever it tries to resize, since it will always have the same height.

Embed Not Working as Intended (Unresponsive, Not Taking up Space on the Page)

It can happen that the embed is unresponsive or doesn’t take up as much space on the page as it should. This can happen if you are checking the embed on preview mode, and it is pretty common that certain previews do not load external Java Script, as this may put you in a state where you cannot get the script out anymore.

In these cases the best way to know if the embed is working or not is to publish the page, rather than using the preview mode. If you don't want users to be able to access the page with the embed, then you can put the embed on a website page that is not linked anywhere, that way you can test it out.

Error With Sad Smiley Face (Google Chrome)

This error can happen if you're using a plug-in that works to optimize your website (e.g. WP Rocket, Nitro CDN).

Usually it is possible to add our domain (or yours, if you're using a custom domain) to the exceptions so it’s not cached. If the issue here is the plug-in, then adding the domain to the exceptions should solve the problem.

Embed Code Does Not Work/It’s Blocked

If your embed does not work on the website (not showing or similar) then this can be because to the website adds a sandbox property to iframes. If this is the case then it means that the embed code is being altered, which is why it won't work.

In these cases you can try using Iframely to generate a different embed code for your funnel and see if that one works instead. Just bear in mind that this new embed will be limited in its features.

Can’t Embed Funnel Inside Email

Embedding your own funnel inside of an email is something that is unfortunately not possible. The embeds codes we provide are iframes, and iframes aren't currently supported by most email providers, not to mention this type of dynamic content also typically doesn't work in email. This is because email doesn't function in the same way as a web page does.

Nonetheless we can suggest a workaround here, which would be to recreate the first page of your form inside the email, and then redirect the participant to the actual form.

Read more about this method here on this article.
