If you have linked your Google Analytics ID to your project but are not seeing the responses in Google Analytics, there are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue.
Check Your Google Analytics ID
The first step to take, is making sure that the Google Analytics integration is properly setup in your project. You can check this by heading over to your project's Configure page and scrolling all the way down to the "Tracking" section.
Make sure your Google Analytics 4 ID is there, as exemplified in the below image.
If you already have your tag installed on your website and you're going to be embedding your project there, then you can skip the above step otherwise you will do two trackings (inside the embed and outside the embed).
Instead, you should just make sure the Google Analytics ID field in your project's Configure page is empty, and then simply tick the "Send tracking events over the website where the project is embedded" option.
As the name implies, this option will allow your embedded project to send the tracking events to the website where your project is loaded. This will affect the domain from which the events are coming within your tracking tool.
Use Google Tag Assistant
If the ID has been set up correctly, then the next step is to use Google Tag Assistant to verify that there is a working Google Analytics connection within your project. Google Tag Assistant is a free Chrome extension that helps you troubleshoot issues with your Google Analytics implementation. You can access Google Tag Assistant via this link: https://tagassistant.google.com/
Once you have it open, click the "Add domain" button, and paste your project's URL or (in case the project is embedded) your website URL. Then create a test submission on you project. Once you complete the test submission, a working tag will show a series of events that will look like this:
If the tag is not working, there will be a flashing red circle and the Tag Assistant will produce an error message. Here are some of the more common warning messages:
Tag Assistant loads extra UA
Project and embed both have UA
The Google Tag Assistant gives helpful prompts when something isn’t working, so this should allow you to find out what the problem is and troubleshoot it.
Possible Reasons the Responses Might Not Be Shown
You might be viewing the wrong property in the Analytics dashboard. Make sure you double check which property you're viewing.
Perhaps you have browser add-ons or extensions that might be blocking responses from being collected. Try launching your project in incognito mode and create a test submission in order to test this out.
The consent tab is empty. If this is happening, it is likely because Google is blocking the responses from being tracked due to there being no consent. This can be rectified by enabling Google consent mode under "Tracking" in your project's Configure page.
ℹ️ We recommend that you enable Google consent mode if you're tracking users in EEA markets, in order to stay GDPR compliant.
Bear in mind that by implementing consent mode there is the possibility that you won't get some tracking data, as the users will have the option to deny or accept the consent.
If even after these troubleshooting steps you are still unable to see the responses in Google Analytics, please reach out to our support team for further assistance. We are always happy to help resolve any issues you may be experiencing with your project.
